Sadness and anxiety have often been the fate of many Nigerian students seeking admission into the university over the years as JAMB frequently jambs them, thereby, making the efforts of many applicants insignificant.

This doesn’t come as a surprise as the rate of students seeking admission into the tertiary institution in Nigeria is on the high side. This makes jamb a hot cake as scaling through jamb is by the survival of the fittest.

There are several other alternatives to the university than Jamb. They include

1. Direct entry: To qualify for this you must have to attended a polytechnic or college of education and graduated to gain admission into 200level in any university of your choice in Nigeria or you proceed to HND immediately, which put you at same time or probably ahead of you university colleague in graduating.

2. Pre Degree: Most universities in Nigeria offer this program and it is perhaps the easiest way to gain admission into a Nigerian university because all you require is 5 o level credits from two sittings and you’re qualified to get into this program. The upside is that it is usually very expensive in a minimum of #200, 000 but after a year and couple of exams, you will be offered admission without writing Jamb into the organizing university only if you meet their cut-off mark which is also competitive, else it’s waste of resources and time all over again.

3. Diploma Courses: Not all universities in Nigeria offer this and unlike pre degree courses, it usually takes between 18–24 months, also costs a lot but the chances of passing is not as easy as pre degree. If you pass however, you get admitted into 200level of the organizing university, else it’s waste of resources and time all over again.
