ICT Center
The ICT Centre plays a pivotal role in the academic, administrative and management activities of Ilesa City College of Technology, with the drive to ensuring that the Centre becomes a leading global College ICT Solutions provider for learning, research and management activities.
The ICT Center has several units made up of ICT Professionals charged with various responsibilities and roles.
The Center also seeks to identify and collaborate with local and international IT bodies in ways that will be beneficial to the College.
VISION
The vision of ICT is to develop robust infrastructure and corresponding services to facilitate the teaching, learning, research and administrative functions of the College. The Centre is also charged with the responsibility of making the College community computer-literate. In addition, it will offer its services to neighboring communities, private individuals and organizations in order to generate revenue.
MISSION
Our mission is to mobilize ICT tools and Services to prop the activities of the Centre and also to boost the image of the College. To coordinate, and facilitate the ICT tools to transform the institution into an automated work environment that supports research, teaching, learning, and other ICT extensions.
This will empower members of the College community with skill and basic knowledge that will enable them carry out their activities effectively thereby improving and sustaining the productivity of staff and students.
PRESENT AND FUTURE ACTIVITIES OF ICT CENTRE
- To plan, develop and manage robust campus-wide ICT infrastructure.
- To connect all members of staff on the campus for collaborative work and provide excellent customer service centre.
- To develop relevant applications/solutions for MTU.
- To manage the College’s Staff and students’ record/portal.
- To carry out research and development in ICT in collaboration with other Departments.
- To involves in regular training for end-users on computer literacy.
- To promote staff development programme in order to ensure that necessary skills are acquired to provide high-quality teaching, learning, research and services.
- To organize training in conjunction with DBI, ETF, etc.
- To organize ICT Training for fresh students in the College.
- To facilitate Foreign Examination like TOEFL, Oracle, GRE etc.
- To Involve in Collaboration with Pearson VUE, Microsoft, CISCO etc.
- To provide periodic updates information that will promote the image of the College.
- Regularly update Web pages with news within the College.
- Collate recent research and major breakthroughs within the College and made them available on the Website.
- To provide Modern, World Class Audio Visual Laboratory for Seminar & Teleconference during College Distinguished Lecture, Inaugural, Convocation, Matriculation etc.
- Involve in streaming of events & uploading past event on the Web
- To maintain the College’s servers and computer systems (workstations).
- To carry out Troubleshooting of networking problems and proffer solution.
- To update computer utility software e.g. Antivirus, registry cleaner, etc.
- Respond to and resolve users’ (College Management, Staff and Students) ICT problems.
- To assist in developing College’s Website.
- Manages MTU’s e-mail Accounts – the Centre provides official e-mail accounts for academic and non-academic staff.
- Carry out an On-line registration of students.
- To undertake Departmental, Units, Centre’s web-design and web-hosting for the College.
- Carry out In-house Networking services instead of outsourcing.
- To carry out Consultancy Service.
- To develop specialized computer training programmers within and in partnership with foreign computing organizations (i.e. CISCO Academy).
- To provide modern study spaces with lots of PCs, Wi-fi access, quiet areas and comfort zones.
- To provide ICT-rich learning environment for teaching and learning in structured groups.
- To provide access to specialized web-based research sites and databases.
